Clean water begins a cycle of empowerment that impacts communities at large. We help reduce the effects of contaminated water to improve the health of students, teachers, and communities.

We provide both the physical equipment and training on usage, in particular, Uzima water filter buckets. The buckets are large hardened plastic reserve tanks with a long-lasting filter housed within, to provide a simply and sustainable solution to areas with a preexisting water source nearby.

The buckets we’ve provided have improved health to enable students to have more time to focus on their education, later facilitating their ability to achieve more ambitious career and life goals. Less money is spent by families on medication, and the buckets treat most preventable diseases and hazardous mineral water.

e3kids + Uzima Filters

Uzima stands for “to be filled and overflowing with life” in the language of Swahili.

The filters are easy to use, low cost, durable, and most importantly, effective in removing bacteria and water borne contaminates.

Uzima Water Filters are equipped with Hollow Fiber Membrane (HFM) technology, which allows nothing larger than 0.1 microns (including bacteria, cysts, protozoa, etc.) to pass through. In total, “over 99.9% of the bacteria that cause waterborne disease” is filtered out of the water.

Maintenance includes “back flushing clean water through the filter using the included filter cleaner.” With proper maintenance, one filter can last up to ten years and provide 1 million gallons of safe water to members of the school community.

An Uzima water filter purchase includes a filter, bucket connector, syringe, and water tap.

What we’ve achieved:

  • Over 450 water buckets have been implemented in various school systems.

  • Community leaders, teachers, and parents of the most vulnerable children trained on the importance of hygiene and how to keep and maintain the filter buckets.

  • Noticeable improvement in the health of teachers, students, and their families often weeks after the implementation of water filter buckets.

  • e3kids has partnered with US schools and organizations to raise funds and educate students on international affairs.

 

Our goal for the near future:

  • Provide 500 buckets for families in remote areas of Kenya.

  • Expanding distribution of Uzima Filtration systems in El Salvador

  • Support ongoing water and hygiene needs (approximately $500 a month)
