Carol A. Turner
Carol is currently the President of the Board of e3 Kids International. She has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Marketing with a concentration in Economics. After graduating, she worked as a Merchandise Coordinator at Southland Corporation. She then started and successfully operated a catering business for 15 years. At Christ Presbyterian Church in Richmond, VA she coordinated youth missions teams to Costa Rica. She worked with Community Bible Study for nine years and served as the Children’s Director for three years. Afterwards she coordinated events and additional instruction with local alternative educators for five years while homeschooling her three daughters. She has financially supported Mikindani Royal Kids School since 2007 and visited in 2009 to evaluate current school needs and the administration’s ability to partner with a non-profit.
Rob Turner (“Rob”)
Rob is currently the Secretary and a Board member for E3 Kids International. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Longwood College with a major in Government and an Education Concentration in 1987. He completed a Master’s of Education degree from VCU in Secondary School Guidance Counseling in 1989. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and currently is a Substance Abuse Therapist at Rappahannock Area Community Services Board and has done this for the past twenty years. Rob is trained as in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, a MANDT trainer (teaching classes on how to deal with aggressive behavior).
JoEllen R. Santulli
JoEllen is currently the Executive Director of E3 Kids and a board member. She graduated from the College of William and Mary in 2010 as an English major with a concentration in African Studies. During her time at William and Mary she studied Arabic and KiSwahili. She first visited Kenya in 2006 and volunteered at Mikindani Royal Kids School. In 2007 and 2008 she taught English to KiSwahili-speaking refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo who now live in Fredericksburg, Virginia. In 2009 she used a 7-week research grant to return to Mombasa and instruct 7th and 8th grade English while conducting research on the education system.
Lena Gonzalez Berrios
Lena is a board member of E3Kids International and spearheads the Classroom Library Project at the Royal Comprehensive School in Mombasa, Kenya. She is a professional librarian and branch manager for the Central Rappahannock Regional Library, and she serves on the board of the Spotsylvania County Crime Prevention Council and the League of Women Voters of the Fredericksburg Area. She is an active member of her church, Cornerstone Baptist, and assists with youth activities and missions. She is currently volunteering to teach English to refugees and immigrants, and she has been working in literacy and libraries since 1991. She holds a B.A. in English and Spanish as well as an M.A. in Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Patty is presently the US Communication Director of E3 Kids International and a board member. Patty has been actively involved in education and missions since the early 1980s when she first went to serve in Guatemala. She then studied Spanish in Costa Rica. Afterwards she served in Chile from 1985 to 1990 with Youth with a Mission. After returning to the U.S., she attended James Madison University and double majored in French and Spanish. For the past eight years, she has worked as a medical interpreter and Spanish teacher. As a member of Grace Covenant Church in Harrisonburg, she went to Kenya on two short-term missions trips and is an active member of the Missions Committee.
Julie is Project Manager for E3 Kids International and currently a board member. She received a B.A. in Mathematics with a minor in Education from Messiah College. After graduation, she taught Senior High math and coached the swim team at Lafayette High School in Williamsburg, VA. Leaving the public classroom behind, she received more training with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) in England and British Columbia. After almost two years with YWAM, she settled in Harrisonburg, VA and started a children’s ministry with a focus on outreach at her local church. She also began ski instructing. Through ministry opportunities, she has taken children teens into local settings, neighboring states as well as Kenya, Mexico, and India. For the last eight years, Julie has been the Children’s Ski and Snowboard Manager at Massanutten Resort and continues to have a heart to minister to children.
Lisa is Treasurer of E3 Kids International and currently on the board. She received a B.A. in Business Administration from Point Loma Nazarene University with certificates in Accounting and Computer Science. She was also a member of the women’s basketball team and a three-year starter. After graduation she attended Bible School for two years then became involved with short-term missions throughout Western Europe with Christian Outreach International’s sports evangelism ministry. She was then a youth leader for four years and has helped lead short-term cross-cultural outreaches to Mexico, Romania, and Kenya while leading local outreaches and service projects. Currently, she is building a precious metals business, is a certified professional ski instructor and manages an historic cemetery in downtown Harrisonburg, VA.
Peter A. Poirot
Peter is currently on the board of E3kids International. He has a MBA from James Madison University, and a BS in Accounting from Bridgewater College. In 1995. As a CPA, Peter became principals in a new firm-Graham & Poirot, in 1996. Graham & Poirot evolved from a firm serving approximately 150 clients, to a firm, which served in excess of 450 individuals and corporate clients. In 2001, Peter assumed the role of principal in charge. Since then the practice has grown to provide business valuations and divorce litigation support. He is currently an adjunct Instructor of Accounting and Finance at James Madison University since 1995.
